Committed to Excellence in Secondary School English Education for Students Aged 11-16

Established in 2017, JMG English Tuition has grown from a kitchen table tuition business with one student a week to a thriving business with a city centre premises in ITEC Business Park in Newry. With a 100% pass rate and multiple student success stories, Joanna prides herself in supporting local teenagers and children through their English Language and Literature examinations and encouraging them in an effort to build confidence and self belief. In addition to one to one and small group tuition, Joanna also offers “Bookworms” Saturday afternoon reading and vocabulary development groups for children aged between 7 and 11 years old. These groups aid development of language skills, vocabulary development and encourage a love for reading. So far they have been a hit with attendees, seeing some of the same faces enrol in the groups time and time again.

Prior to establishing JMG English Tuition, Joanna worked for publications in Sydney Australia as a fashion and beauty content writer. On her return to Ireland she wanted to work with children and teens to show them how English language and a passion for writing, alongside a little self belief, can open doors to opportunities outside the world of education.

After six years in business, Joanna recently won her first award in the Local Entrepreneur category at the Mighty Women NI Awards hosted in the Culloden Hotel and Spa in April 2023. Joanna has also launched a well received Tiktok account, posting tips for teens in the throws of GCSE examinations. Her short clips have received thousands of views and praise from multiple teens on the platform in recent weeks.

With the launch of her website, Joanna hopes to help teens further afield than her local town and facilitate academic success alongside increased confidence and self belief.
