Intricacies of Persuasive Writing

Persuasive writing is a huge element of GCSE English Language examinations with students graded on their ability to accurately identify audience, form and purpose, present a structured answer comprised of both interesting and relevant points / food for thought and their ability to effectively engage their reader throughout.  The skills learned during the persuasive writing element of GCSE are also beneficial in other areas of life as they enable individuals to present their views and opinions assertively and in a way that encourages their listener to agree with them.

This course contains information that will assist students in ensuring their attempts at persuasive writing questions are structured well, inclusive of engaging language techniques and comprised of points that are developed effectively.

As well as tutoring weekly one to one students, Joanna also holds annual GCSE study sessions where students attend in the lead up to exams to help prepare. The information in this course is what is covered in the study sessions for persuasive writing and to date all students have performed exceptionally well in their examinations and gave positive feedback following the sessions.

Small snippets of this course were also shared to Joanna’s study Tiktok account in May 2023 reaching almost 400,000 students. Many students on the platform reached out via the public comments during exam season and on results day in August 2023 thanking Joanna for the information and crediting her with assisting them in achieving their grades.
